Each year the Flora Glenn Candler Concert Series brings internationally-renowned artists to Emory University’s Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. Candler artists range from large ensembles such as the New York Philharmonic and Taipei Chinese Orchestra to solo artists like violinist Hilary Hahn and baritone Thomas Hampson.

The artists come from a variety of musical genres including everything from traditional groups, such as Venice Baroque Orchestra, to contemporary artists, like jazz bassist and singer Esperanza Spalding. The series is made possible by a generous gift from the late Flora Glenn Candler, a friend and patron of music at Emory University.

2019 – 2020 Candler Concert Series

Join us for an exploration of how music brings people together. Kicking off with Kronos Quartet with Mahsa Vahdat, the series journeys through the Americas, Europe, and Cuba before culminating in a celebration of hometown favorites, Robert McDuffie and Robert Spano. At the pinnacle of the series, we reflect on harmony through music with award-winning mezzo-soprano, Joyce DiDonato. Her current project, In War & Peace, invites us to “look at the interwoven worlds of external conflict and serenity, internal war and peace, and to contemplate where you wish to reside within yourself.”
